An unforgettable cruise on the canals

A good way to discover the magnificent waterfronts.

Amsterdam is characterised by its canals to the point that it is sometimes considered the 'Venice of the North.' The canals stretch for kilometres. Stroll along the must-see Singel, Herengracht, Keizersgracht, or Prinsensgracht canals, which have been at the city's centre since the 17th century. They were listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010.

Crossed by little bridges, bordered by traditional homes, they have an enchanting charm. You can spend hours taking in the atmosphere and strolling along the canal banks. The most pleasant is without a doubt the Prinsengracht, near Anne Frank's house, which is bordered by numerous cafés.

Several boat companies offer guided visits, which are even more magical at sunset, when the light becomes soft and the beautiful homes begin to light up. Candlelight cruises are also organised on weekends.
