Lion Noir, the gourmet cabinet of curiosities

Lion Noir, the gourmet cabinet of curiosities

In the heart of Amsterdam, this French restaurant sets itself apart by its imposing and original decor.

The kitchens of the Lion Noir send fragrant scents into the streets of Amsterdam. The walls of an intense olive green are covered with paintings from yesteryear, portraits, and an oddity or two (birdcages and model airplanes hang from the ceiling), giving the restaurant an unusual charm. Couples toast their evenings in the warm light, a group of friends has an intense discussion at the bar between sips of their drinks. There is a New York speakeasy feeling in the air.

If you visit the Lion Noir for lunch, you might be tempted by the braised pork bruschetta and pickled vegetables, unless you prefer a truffle risotto with green asparagus, parmesan and a poached egg. In the evening, enjoy some sautéed scallops and grilled squid in creamy salsa, then continue with a fillet of lamb with preserved lemon. Finally, the nut-flavoured crème brûlée with figs and caramel ice cream delicately closes this feast. Feel free to take a walk in the garden, considered one of the best spots in the city.
