Wander in Vondelpark

A relaxing break in the shade: tourists and locals alike enjoy Vondelpark.

At the end of the 1960s, hippies made this one of their favourite locations. Today, everyone likes to walk in this park, one of the city's biggest, because of its calm. You can stop here after visiting the Van Gogh Museum or the nearby Rijksmuseum.

This green enclave, 47 hectares in size, is frequented by locals in all seasons. Here, joggers work their way through winding paths, while, elsewhere, cyclists finish their morning ride and rollerbladers perform daring tricks. The gardens are perfectly manicured. If you have time, stretch out on the grass and consider the museums you've just seen, or maybe have a picnic as a family or with your lover.

In the summertime the open-air theatre offers concerts. Nearby you can see the Hollandsche Manege, a horse-riding school. The Vondelpark is easily accessible by tramway.
